getting anywhere. I thought I'd stop off at the Pavilion on my way home. I wasn't aware who the original 'ideas' person for a reflection of the Pavilion was. Just that it was a popular image. I thought I may as well try a night version. The ornamental pond creates the reflections you can see when lying down in front of it. It was really just an experiment shot that everyone ended up saying shoud go in the calendar despite me personally thinking it didn't suit the publication. Hence it went in. I was selling the calendars on the street (under the tree outside JuJu's) that Xmas when Roger Bamber came up to me to say he loved the calendar, but this photo was a bit of a rip off of one of his! He'd done the black and white day version that was in The Guardian in the early 90's. At the time everyone thought it was showing the Pavilion grounds flooded! Looking back this shot may well of been the start of a whole spate of me lying down and generally looking into puddles all over town. A spate of images that proved pretty popular. And as no one at that time was doing that kind of angle, it made my portfolio look different to everyone elses! So thanks Roger! Roger became a NLP favourite when I rang him 2 years later and asked if he'd like to use all his images for the 2006 calendar. He duly obliged and thereafter became a good friend with his exhibitions and shots in our gallery a definite highlight of the NLP years.
